Never seen a HI in North America with a lounge, they usually have a restaurant however.
This HIX (Pleasant Prairie/Kenosha, WI) is a "...and Suites" and I suspect that in the ongoing renovations here that the (former?) suites — based on the size of my room anyway — were converted to large standard rooms. There's two room sizes here based on the back-of-door map. I'm on the third floor in a brand-new double queen room; I guess that's my platinum upgrade, thanks. It's nice and modern and a little above what I expect at a HIX. You can even open the windows all the way!!* The rooms on the ground floor are not renovated and it looks really old down there.
