Can my adult Son with Down Syndrome get TSA Pre Check?
1st time poster here.
I have looked all over the internet for the answer to this question and have not found a solid answer. I have a 24yr old with Down Syndrome and we travel a lot. My wife and I both have TSA Pre, but my son does not. When he was a minor, they let us take him through Pre Check, but now that he's an adult, they do not. So my wife or I will take him through regular TSA. Sometimes when he cannot walk, they will take him through a faster gate in his wheelchair, many times even faster than TSA Pre, but it is not consistent. The problem is each time this is a gamble, because if he freezes up, he cant be moved and will stubbornly sit down. This is common with people born with Down Syndrome.
We have tried the TSA Cares(Or whatever they call it) but they are not timely or reliable. Waiting around spurs on the problems with my son, as you may imagine.
Therefore, I think it would be best if I get him TSA Pre Check, but the last line in the qualifications worry me, as he is not independent and needs 24/7 supervision. Is this a technicality I can overcome and explain, or use some kind of ADA law against it? Surprisingly, there is not a lot about this online, yet I know there are many in my situation who must be faced with this same question. I hope this thread will prove useful to those people too. Perhaps just applying and finding out myself is the only answer.
