While that was my recollection as well, I just made a points reservation a few days ago, and I pulled up the reservation confirmation email. There was absolutely zero mention of a cancellation fee. (But as I posted above, it is mention on the bookings fee.)
It is not in the confirmation email but on the confirmation page right before you hit "Confirm". Perhaps Marriott.com should include it in the confirmation email as well.
