That works well if it's like a 2 credit pass. I think the question is more like "can I expect this to work for the duration of the pass".
In my experience in the North American market, my Latitude passes almost always clear the eUpgrade right away, regardless of R space. Not if the flight is super full, but I've had flights that were something like J3 C2 D0 Z0 P0 clear.
