For all Cathay Pacific departures after 00:01am on 25 June, airport check-in and all self-service kiosks will close sharply 60 minutes prior to departure.
To provide customers with additional flexibility and control, from the same date, we will be extending the availability of online check-in by an additional 30 minutes to also now close 60 minutes prior to departure.
Our easy-to-use Cathay Pacific app and online check-in options allow customers to check in up to 24 hours in advance (or 48 hours in advance for our Cathay members).

For a seamless start to their journey and to reduce waiting times at the airport, we encourage all customers to check in online and obtain a mobile boarding pass (where available) before coming to the airport. We also remind customers travelling with checked baggage to arrive well ahead of time as baggage drop counters will also close sharply 60 minutes before departure from 25 June.
Please note there are a small number of exceptions to these new arrangements:
  • Chinese Mainland
    • check-in counter closure times will vary between 60 minutes and 40 minutes prior to departure, as mandated by local airport authorities. Passengers should check their pre-departure emails or our Airport pages for the closure time for their departure airport.
  • France
    • Paris (CDG): check-in will continue to close 75 minutes prior to departure due to the infrastructure limitations of Terminal 1.
  • Vietnam
    • Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN): check-in will continue to close 50 minutes prior to departure, as mandated by the local airport authorities.
That's very poor commuinication. If they want to do something as impactful as this they need to email all existing ticket holders and Cathay members, put it in Notifications and put up posters in HKG and outports.
