Are you hoping to SDC to a later flight?

I'm looking to do something similar next month: Platinum on AA award NRT-SEA-DFW; NRT-SEA leg is JL, SEA-DFW is AA and the award routing has a 7 hour connection in Seattle; there are three likely AA flights I could connect with to get home sooner. I'm assume better chance at bag drop in SEA to get on an earlier flight than via the AA app 24 hours before departure. I'll be checking in with JL in NRT, so I assume they won't be able to do anything for me there.
