After helping a few family members applying for it and getting feedback from some friends, apparently the most frustrating point has been getting their phones to scan the biometric chip on the passport because for some it took 2-3 times to get a successful read meanwhile when we were doing it for my sister’s passport it took maybe 20 times and needed at some point to shut down the app and start the process from the start. What’s funny is that when the app fails to read the chip every time it says “your phone or passport has moved” claiming that’s what made the reading fail despite neither the phone nor the passport moving. So I can see this being a frustrating step for many people and I hope HM’s government can fix that part of the app. They literally positioned the same phone on the same part of the passport as the first two passports scanned but it took forever to get a successful read.
