I always drape the napkin up over my shirt to my chin just in case of any sauces or turbulence that is guaranteed to happen when taking a bit or trying to take a sip of a beverage (especially if its red wine)
Note that DL still has the button hole in the corner of the linen napkins if you're wearing a shirt with buttons
