I have booked in the back, middle, and front. Didn't matter because I never had a row to myself. Now that people are traveling like gang busters, the seats are full.

If you want to luck out with getting an empty seat next to you, you can try the EMS seats, but that's not even likely nowadays
Basic seems to be filling EMS before boarding. Nothing is safe haha.
