Here's what to expect: Your application will be approved, or it will be rejected. No one here knows which it will be, but what difference does it make? In either case, your credit score will take a small drop, just from applying, and should recover over the following several months. Did you ever check your FICO score for free, as suggested up-thread?

You might learn Barclays' decision instantly, or you might find out by getting a letter in the mail a week or so after applying. It's also possible that Barclays would ask you to submit additional information:

It's probably best to apply when you are back in the U.S, since if you are approved, Barclays would mail your card to your U.S. address.
