Understood. My impetus was that LHR-BKK on EVA had decent award availability in J recently. Co-payments are lowish, too.
I agree, though, the within OW, QR is likely your best bet. BA, like most of its European peers, is still somewhat supply-constrained. So, I basically repeat, they do not make many seat kilometers available on LGW-BKK but focus on more profitable routes instead. That particularly goes from premium cabin.
Personally, I have not done any Avios searches for BA's LGW service specifically but it does not surprise me what you and another poster are reporting.
