Update from website
Taken from JW MM's website. Nice to see additional safety enhancement and protocols being implemented.
"Although the tents are elevated & reinforced 6 meters above the ground, 3 were damaged due to riverbank erosion. Our team are restoring their entirety to ensure the highest quality our guests expect. The remaining areas are structurally sound, requiring minimal repairs. Guests were escorted from their tents and transferred via helicopter to the airstrip. Chartered flights were organized to Nairobi. The local community faced substantial challenges, with several homes destroyed and access to amenities restricted. In response, we’ve provided essential supplies and our associates planted 100 trees as part of our ongoing commitment to the environment. Our rebuilding efforts will include safety measures such as riverbank stabilization, the installation of lifeboats, life jackets and an alarm system will be activated if the water level rises above the designated meter, and a safe haven constructed. Our proactive measures aim to ensure the safety and comfort of all who visit and work at JW Marriott Masai Mara."
