Yes, I have encountered good FAs, but by and large, it's been hit and miss from my experience.
I fly regularly on other airlines and alliances based on convenience. This has allowed me to compare and contrast across a lot of different airlines and observe the good ones, and not so good ones.
What I've always found amazing - as someone that lives in Asia and in America -- is that AP/ EU airlines can pay their employees so much less than US airlines - and impose so many more rules -- and yet they give way better service... For many here they will say it's cultural -- but as a human being I'm not so sure -- It's not clear to me why US airlines give such awful service -- while foreign airlines seem to care so much more about doing a good job.
It's not a union thing -- Germany / France has way "worse" unions than the US but somehow deliver way better service -- I guess it just comes down to the people working the plane that day -- do they care or do they not? For the most part on AP/EU airline employees seem to really care -- while in the US not so much -- they are there mostly for our "safety" and god forbid you complain about anything...
Honestly -- Is anyone still confused why the US airlines always loses in the comparison? It's the people -- starting in the corner office -- it's not more complex than that....
