I believe that one of the primary reasons for inaccurate FLIFO from AA is that the airline uses separate computer systems for different functions and the systems are not directly linked and therefore don't talk to each other.
Although flight dispatch has a very good handle on when flights are departing, landing, etc., manual intervention is required to put this into the system that pax (and res agents) look at.
Believe it or not, at one time, AA was the industry leader with respect to information technology. Sadly, that time has long passed.
