Jetblue Seat Selection Question and Strategy?
So I fly with jetblue blue which means I can have a carry on and choose my seat. I almost always choose the aisle seat as I don't like the middle seat nor the window seat. When I go and select my seat, I will choose the aisle seat if it's available... but not only that, I would choose it in a section of 3 seats where either the other 2 seats in that row are empty, or only the middle seat is available and the aisle seat in that row is taken. My thinking is if I take the aisle seat and the window seat is taken, when people book a seat, very few people would want to choose that middle seat. Would you say this is accurate? So that way most likely if the seat isn't full, there is no one in the middle seat so you have a bit more space?
Now my other question would be, would you do this in a row further back if there are 3 whole seats available in a row as oppose to just choosing an aisle seat a few rows ahead if the aisle that you would choose already have the middle and aisle seat taken? My thinking is those 2 seats are probably 2 people who are together. But not only that, they will most likely have 1 or 2 luggage so now there is less space for you to put your checked luggage up there. Thoughts on that?
Now people who choose jetblue basic and don't have a carry on or other airlines who choose the cheapest seat without giving option to choose the seat, I know those seats are assigned and almost always, they get a middle seat right? But if you have the option to select a seat, would this be a good strategy if you want an aisle seat but not have to sit to anyone in the middle? Of course if the flight is not packed, then you could ask the attendant if you could move seats etc. But if it sort of packed, would this be a good idea? The other thing is if you do this, well someone could have the middle seat and now you sitting with someone next to you. The other thing is it would take you longer to get out since you are many further rows back. So do people who want aisle seat take a closer aisle seat to exit or do this?
