Not a strange question, it is definitely worth a try by submitting a webform politely asking for them to locate the code for you. You'll need to provide some details as to how you received the code, however (ie: service recovery for ACXXX on YYY date). I don't know if this is possible so it might be worth searching further for the email.
They WILL in many cases reissue codes that have been used on bookings that were subsequently cancelled, but this is a bit different since you can't provide them with the code that needs to be replaced. Do report back in the thread with your experience.
