As someone who doesn't fly BE but almost exclusively flies regular E-, I absolutely agree. It's not the best Economy experience in the world (That would be in Asia), but it probably ranks relatively high in the US. I disagree that UA is "nickel-and-diming" passengers. I don't pay for checked bags, I might buy Bistro on Board items, but that's it. TSA is not going anywhere and is not even relevant to UA so I see no point in OP complaining about it.
