Flying DPS-SYD on Garuda, 2 hours later SYD to LAX on Delta. Separate tickets although the Delta person linked the itineraries, for whatever that is worth. I need to avoid clearing immigration at Sydney as I will likely not make my flight. I assumed that Garuda would be able to send my luggage through to LAX without having to pick it up at SYD however when I inquired with Garuda they waffled and their answer didn't leave me with a whole lot of confidence. Can anyone confirm if I can have my luggage sent from DPS to LAX without having to clear immigration at SYD?

(Asking in Delta in case anyone has experience as there does not seem to be a Garuda board)
