I’m usually pretty advanced with this stuff and think I’ve exhausted all options but wanted opinions on it. I’m helping a friend book an award stay for a Honeymoon. He’s never booked anything before.

He’s targeting the Waldorf Astoria Los Pedregal (Cabo) for a 5 night award stay that would cost 480k with the 5th night free.

He’s got 221k Amex Points (wasn’t target for the Hilton transfer bonus in May) which will get him 442k Hilton points.

This leaves him 38k Hilton points short.

He only signed up for his Hilton account last week leaving him ineligible to buy points until 90 days.

I tried to transfer him 1,000 points as a yest, but it hasn’t gone through (guessing it won’t till day 90). He’d pay me if I bought gifted points but I’m guessing that wouldn’t go through either.

I’m going to recommend that he sign up for a card to hit the minimum spend, but worry the award availability will be gone by then.

Am I missing any other options?
