Was able to select seats on an award flight in LH J on UA.com, but when I went to double check the selection on the LH website, it appears the selection didn't stick to the reservation, so had to make it there (again).

If it were me, I would be sure to double check anything selected. Interestingly, on an LX J award flight, the seat selection on UA.com did stick FWIW.
