Is the post-takeoff message safety critical? I've always thought of that one as the customer service focused message. Safety things come prior to takeoff.
There are some bits of it we’re required to say verbatim - re seatbelts, opening lockers carefully and the smoking bit.
For the rest of the SCCM welcome, you can either use a pre written script (which has recently been updated to add the bit about the Amex card), or you can personalise your own welcome.
I think the majority of SCCMs say something halfway between the written script and their own welcome to avoid things getting too complicated.
On short-haul, after the safety messages, I normally keep it as brief as possible especially on the shorter sectors. I won’t be plugging any Amex on a PA, AA style.
