Safety critical messages (e.g. keep your seatbelt on) should never be mixed with commercial messages in my view. Unfortunately some bean-counter at Waterside has probably concluded that there's an untapped revenue stream by pushing the BA Amex - even if only (say) 1 person per flight actually looks anything up as a result of the announcement. That kind of tacky in-your-face capitalism should be reserved for the US airlines, thank you very much.
Is the post-takeoff message safety critical? I've always thought of that one as the customer service focused message. Safety things come prior to takeoff.
