we are discussing a schedule change because of a cancelled flight that takes place somewhere in the future. the options quoted in the linked document describe what can be done. and there are different options depending how far out the schedule change takes place. it's not like you quoted that there is an "automatic right to rerouting applied" which implies "everything is possible for free" - especially when the flight is more than 30 days in the future. then you can only rebook for free within the fare bucket you purchased - otherwise you have to pay the fare differencce.

the op wants to move the flight to early morning next day - that's a date change.

to quote the EU regulations.

Article 8

Right to reimbursement or re-routing

1. Where reference is made to this Article, passengers shall be offered the choice between:

(a) - reimbursement within seven days, by the means provided for in Article 7(3), of the full cost of the ticket at the price at which it was bought, for the part or parts of the journey not made, and for the part or parts already made if the flight is no longer serving any purpose in relation to the passenger's original travel plan, together with, when relevant,

- a return flight to the first point of departure, at the earliest opportunity;

(b) re-routing, under comparable transport conditions, to their final destination at the earliest opportunity; or

(c) re-routing, under comparable transport conditions, to their final destination at a later date at the passenger's convenience, subject to availability of seats.
option (b) was already provided by AF by rebooking to the earlier flight
option (c) is subject to passenger preference - BUT subject to availability of seats -> thats's where the policy within the quoted document kicks in.
