Like Horace my experience with Collection Hotels, specifically Autograph Collection have all been very good. They have been a half step up (or more) from a typical full-service Marriott property. As a collection, each individual property has a unique character and style, which I have enjoyed. I also don't care about the age of a hotel. In fact, older hotels that have been renovated and maintained well, are frequently nicer than newer build hotels. YMMV...
