EDIT: I just remembered that your status is with VS, not through Flying Blue.

It is an unpublished, but widely-known, perk that anyone travelling on a Flying Blue award ticket booked from the account of a Flying Blue status holder will automatically "inherit" the status of the booker, even when that status member is not actually travelling as part of the group, on flights that are operated by AF and KL at least.

I think yours is the first report I've ever seen on these boards of that status being "inherited" from a different (i.e. not Flying Blue) Skyteam FFP. Can you clarify - did they obtain these benefits at an airport where you were still in their presence, or were they able to obtain these benefits completely without your presence?
