Booked ERW->NRT->BKK on United with the final leg on ANA.

I have flown this before and not seen the scenario today where the seat map for me shows only middle seats (all are open) and all isle and windows X out. Called ANA and they shared flight is not full but United tickets do not have access to "premium seats" which it seems is isle or window.

Is this new that 1K/Star Gold can not reserve anything but a center seat?
They shared on day of departure I would have access to all available seats but not so confident in that? Will I expect to see an up charge to get out of the center seat?
