I did London - Washington and New York - London in Upper a couple of weeks ago.
On the outbound, I enjoyed the Clubhouse picnic - served in a wicker basket, there was a nice selection of ploughmans-type food which made a change from having it presented on a plate or wooden board. Plus the usual smoked salmon from the buffet. Onboard, I had the smoked fish starter which was very tasty if a little small, followed by the pre booked curry (chicken achai? something like that). Again this was tasty but a good size portion this time. Followed by dessert and cheese which were good as usual. I then crashed out for 3 hours (at the time still fighting off the remnants of a cold/flu) only waking at the 40 minute call so I didn't get to sample any of the pre-arrival dishes.
On the return from JFK I hadn't really had much lunch so when I got to the Clubhouse I ordered the chicken wings and the chicken burger. Both were excellent. The food at the JFK CH is far better than what is available to a BA Gold in the Soho lounge in T8 in my view (but I'll report back in November). On board I ordered the melon, peach and proscuitto starter and then the soup with the cheese toastie. This was ideal and again very tasty. I was considering the cheeseboard but I decided to just have a Scotch and go to bed. In the morning I passed on food and went to the Revivals for a shower and an Eggs Benedict. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food available on the menu for this flight, you could have had a full dinner with multiple main course choices, the express option (which I went for) and then a full breakfast again with multiple main course options. I do wonder how much goes to waste! Having said that at least one person behind me was having a full dinner.
All in all no complaints!
