Then the argument being put forth would be that if you can easily set aside 10,000 dollars on travel you don't need to get 1K, then you probably have enough budget to fly business whenever you wish. In that case life as 1K for you might not be that different from what you would otherwise experience.

Million miles is even harder to achieve than 1K for you I would imagine. It is far harder these days to achieve BIS miles than PQP. Without knowing your travel pattern, this could easily be a decade away and probably well above five years if you are having to spend up to 1K.
