Interesting. Let us know the outcome of your request. To abort the meal service, resulting in non-completion based on minor turbulence (no more or less than before or after the black swan event) indeed is unwelcome by passengers. Can imagine how the crew were unhappy at this new policy.
I would urge you to make this public on SQ's social media... the more people complain, the more they would "knee jerk" and revert to what's sensible originally.
