I booked an award ticket DCA-MIA-POP with a 23-hour connection in Miami. I would like to add a lap infant for the first segment only.

Taxes are around $80, so it's not the end of the world if I need to pay 10% of that to add him to the whole itinerary, but the little guy doesn't have a passport yet.

Do we think this is possible? If he is added for the entire trip, will I have trouble removing him from the second leg once I get to MIA?
