The only high-end luxury option in Almaty. No other hotel is even in the same league as this RC. Rixos was a bad joke. Sure, presidents and dignitaries stay there but why should I?
And, to add insult to injury, the Rixos doesn't even participate in the Accor loyalty program. I stay at the DoubleTree, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express. It would be nice if there were another Marriott (aside from the St. Regis and R-C in Astana, there are even Renaissance properties in Aktau and Atyrau).
Almaty is a nice place to visit, however, despite the Soviet-style service-with-a-scowl that prevails.
