For the second straight May, I brought kids here for one night to use an expiring 35K cert. Again, we had a great time. The check-in associate was very pleasant and provided a welcome amenity of yogurt-covered pretzels and chocolates. That was in addition to the 500 points as a Gold. 2 pm checkout was granted. We were upgraded to what I imagine might be considered the best non-suite room, a room on the 8th floor with a different layout and larger balcony than the standard rooms.
We again did the grass mini golf course, this time at night - it's great that it is lighted. We also got to more of the other things. We did the driving range, which as noted above is included in the RF. It was nice, but a bit of a walk to get there and they didn't have many kids loaner clubs. We also checked out the lawn games area at the tennis center and played some croquet. It was fun to play on the level croquet pitch. I noted the grass tennis court available to guests, but we didn't get to play. It is nice that they provide an hour of court time in the RF, unlike the nearby LaQuinta Resort.
The Marriott Burger at the pool was again very good but had increased in price to $24. It does come with a hefty pile of delicious house-made chips. A tip if you are here with kids and and they need something to eat in the evening - go to the Blue Star lounge. They have a kids ice cream dessert that comes with a cookie and fresh berries for $6.
The shower setup is mostly good - a rainfall showerhead with great flow, and quality amenities - but I agree with the poster above that the door design is poor.
