My standard filter on booking.com is 8+ rating for all our trips. But I must say that this has been reset to 7+ for this trip on several occasions.
I feel I already owe you a at least a drink or 2 for your extensive advise. I made a print out of your last reply and will give it a go with Google maps tomorrow.
If you ever need advise on a European roadtrip (with comfortable hotels and private bathrooms) please do not hesitate to contact me for advise.
We are also experts on cruise vacations (Europe, US and Middle East).
on hotel ratings…they are very subjective.
on national park areas it’s about limited tourist season and convenience , not about luxury. It’s nice to be on the rim of the Grand Canyon for sunrise or sunset. Driving in the dark on non interstate rural country roads is not advised because of large wildlife you can encounter without time to see them because it’s very dark to drive.
many of the pictures yousee in outdoors or parks usually occur in early morning hours or thr last hours of sunlight.
in many reviewed people will look at the price they paid and expect something special or thr park lodging food to be the best meal they ever had.
people complain on the hotel site about things not controlled by the hotel like traffic or park experience
something else to remember…laundry facilities. During the trip you might want to consider what hotel has a laundry facility. The days I might target are
night around needles/ kingman or in page if you stay there a night
night during your vegas stay
