I recently completed a five-night stay that was excellent. I was treated well and found very few faults with the property. I would definitely return in my next trip to Singapore.
Booking and Check-in
I booked four nights using a Prive 4NF promo through LiveLuxeTravel. I added a fifth using points at the old Category 5 rate. I then applied a TSU to the Andaz Suite. It was just over SGD1500 for the four paid nights which I thought was very fair for the quality.
My family took the new TK flight from MEL-IST which landed around 330am. We took a Grab (note: no Uber at SIN so download Grab in advance) to the hotel and arrived at around 430am. We thought we’d just drop our luggage and find somewhere to kill time until the Sun came up, but the checkin agent gave us a temporary room when we arrived which I thought was extremely kind.. this allowed me to shower and my 8 year old to get some more sleep.
Once everyone was fully rested we packed up, left our luggage in the room and went out for the day. By the time we came back our suite was ready and the luggage was seamlessly in the new room. Great service!
Suite
I loved the suite. It was dead quiet with absolutely no noise from in or out. The only nitpicks I had were:
- No milk/cream for the coffee, only coffeemate
- As others have noted the suite is “backwards” with the door opening into the bedroom. But this wasn’t a huge deal
I’ll let the pictures below speak to the rest. It’s a great room with a really beautiful bathroom.
There was a small gift for my son in the room (a stuffed animal and small book) as well as a bottle of wine and a few chocolates.
Food and Lounge
We were absolutely beat the first night and ate dinner at the hotel. We were given a 20% off food coupon at checkin and had the SGD130 credit from Prive. I thought the food was quite good and it was only around SGD80 for my family of three. My wife and son used the balance for another meal and enjoyed it.
I thought breakfast was great - a very large spread across three rooms with variety day to day. I loved the Teh Tarik as well!
The lounge had a rotating variety of small snacks and sweets. We received two, one time drink vouchers at checkin. I only used one but did enjoy stopping off for a fruit infused water after returning from the Singapore heat.
Gym and Pool
The gym was small but there was never more than one other person in there anytime I used it.
The pool is around 25 meters. It was plenty warm for my taste and it was never crowded.
Checkout
When we arrived, 4pm checkout was confirmed but they asked if we could move to a regular room at noon. I certainly wasn’t going to complain since they’d just let me checkin at 430. However, the day before checkout there was a letter placed in our suite saying we could stay in the same suite til 4PM. I really appreciated the proactive follow up.
Other Notes- Laundry: We used Laundry Day which was a short bus ride away. A carryon full of dirty laundry was around $25 and they turned it around in 6 hours. Great service!
- For Kids:
- Gardens by the Bay has a great playground with a water play area
- Singapore Botanic Garden also has a great playground at the COMO Adventure Grove
- Science Center Singapore has lots of hands on exhibits and the fire tornado is super cool
- I also think the Night Safari is great for kids. We took the MRT to Springleaf and had dinner (lots of options - we ate at Mongkok) then the bus to the Night Safari and an Uber back
In conclusion I had a really great stay with almost nothing to fault. I’d definitely return.
