Hi,
Some photos from my stay during golden week. A very good stay.
The hilton hiroshima carp hats and bears in the executive lounge just before 9pm. Places being set for breakfast. Bought the hat and the bear
View from my room at sunset
panning left from the previous photo
A Johnnie Walker Blue label whisky with a huge ice cube in Zatta. Live band played 4 days a week for a few hours in the bar ( pretty good). Price reasonable for JW Blue ( Y3,500 before 25% diamond discount)
To signify a Diamond member ( gold members get a gold colour)
View towards Peace Boulevard from the executive lounge on a rainy day. I had sightseed around the peacepark in the morning and some shopping but was getting wet even with a rainjacket and waterproof trousers so went back to the hotel to dry off for a couple of hours
I loved how the low clouds rolled down valleys and the top of hills. A couple of hours earlier the visibility was a lot worse
Monty ( The Conrad St James's bulldog) with a small plate of okonomiyaki in the executive lounge . I had had a full breakfast in Mozaik downstairs but Mozaik did not have oknomiyaki as far as i could tell.
The loungers at the far end of the swimming pool ( very nice pool). The pool did have priority hours for children during golden week ( up to 9am then from 5-7 pm) but able to swim a few laps with no problems as the pool was not busy
walking back from the peace boulevard , just at the junction of the main road leading to the Hilton I was hearing lots of sirens and then lots of fire engines. Turned and looked and saw this smoke and flames coming from a building north of peace boulevard.
Got back to my room one evening, and saw the moon rising ( photo shows the moon a bit more orangey than it was in reality ) and a nice night city view
The A-dome building taken just after sunset from across the river with a beautiful reflection in the still waters ( a few seconds later a small cruise boat passed by and its wake stirred up the waters). Dusk and night time are beautiful times to visit the A-dome and Peace park as they take on a different presence at night and with a lot fewer people around
Apart from no afternoon tea/snacks in the lounge apart from a few sweets in jars, the lounge is very good with enough evening snacks for a light meal. The desert options do change during the evening. I did like the vanilla flavoured nespresso capsules in the lounge and unlike the Hilton Nagasaki, lounge stayed open till 9pm.
Room was good as always. Service via the phone ( ie laundry and bell desk was very quick to come to your room). Taxi was waiting for me ( had booked the night before ) to take me to the JR station shinkansen entrance ( for the airport limousine bus).
A very solid Hilton and a lot cheaper even in golden week compared to Hilton Tokyo
Did not go to Miyajima island this trip but took the Shinkansen to Shin-iwakuni ( 15 mins or so then the bus ( about 20 mins plus waiting time) to the Kintaikyo bridge and park ( beautiful)
Will post a few Hiroshima/Iwakuni photos on the Japan photography thread during the week
Regards
