Time for a review! Compared to some of the other Marriott-Marriott properties I have tried in the Middle East, I found Marriott Al Jaddaf to be a slightly better and more comfortable option. For less than 100 USD, it’s great! Here are my impressions:
Pros:
- Upgraded before arrival (same day) to an Executive Suite - initial suite on the 3rd floor was a bit dark and oddly shaped, decreasing the natural light - but they were able to move me to a more normally shaped suite on the 7th floor
- Bed was comfortable - pretty plush covers for Dubai, plush-ish mattress topper, plush pillows
- Shower pressure was strong yet relaxing with a fancy pinhole mister shower head
- I liked the smell of the towels - unique detergent smell
- Nice welcome gift of lemon macaron, some cakes, and baklava
- 4 PM late checkout was fine
- Staff had friendly demeanors
- Evening lounge service had fantastic desserts - great cheesecake and the ooey gooey caramel date pudding was one of the best things I have put in my mouth
- Hourly complimentary shuttle service to Dubai Mall shared with the Element - worked surprisingly well
Neutral:
- Restaurant breakfast is there - selection is fine, but taste and quality didn’t blow my socks off - fine omelet, pastries tasted a bit over baked or over heated from the lamps
Cons:
- Light controls were confusing with some of the living room lights seemingly unable to be turned off unless the master switch was off (preventing bedroom lamps from being turned on)
- Views aren’t anything inspiring - oddly, much of the building seems positioned away from the good skyline views with those reserved for the hallway windows
