I had already been refused as a Gold. as it was not in the Boarding Pass that I was not allowed. Whether BA didn’t pay for it or not I neither knew nor cared. Iberia certainly do and I think that when it is purchased with the LCCs. There was a big hoo-haa over the Lounge as Euroflyer was not considered part of BA.
Your story reminded me of an incident a couple of years back. I was coming off a US flight and going via domestic connections. After immigration, heading to security, a rather well heeled gentleman starts pacing up and down at the escalator, squawking with the urgency and volume of a demented parrot:
“Fast track!”
“Fast track!”
“Fast track!”
After a few more squawks, he rather meekly asks:
“…fast…track…?”
Finally, one of the purple Heathrow helpers takes the bait and rather firmly asks “Sir, can I help you?” before explaining no fast track facility is available, please use the escalator as he is blocking other passengers.
