I booked tickets with miles in Comfort Plus from LAX to HND for 01/25. I looked today to see how much it would cost to upgrade to Premium Select or Delta One Suites, because the flight is over 12 hours. All of the seats are available in both classes. PS is currently $840 per passenger and D1 is $2150 per passenger. I’m Silver Medallion and have an AmEx Business Reserve card.

What is the typical pattern for pricing on those upgrades? Do they go down in price as the flight nears? Does anyone know if that route is busy at that time of the year? Any idea on the likelihood of being bumped up based on status and card?

It’s the classic battle of getting a good price or even a free upgrade, vs the upgrade going up in price or not even being available. The pricing seems high, but Google Flights is saying that the current retail price for D1 is low ($2950).

I’d appreciate any insight that you have. Thanks!
