At the end of the day I booked the Holiday Inn because 'Land-of-Miles' provided a direct comparison, plus the photos shared in this thread clearly showed that the Hilton is a dump at present (it looks like a student dorm... or worse).

It seems you are indeed arguing with me, though mostly ad hominem. To be clear, I did not intend for low/mid range city hotels to be a "jibe" as to the quality of the hotels, but rather to reflect that expectations for breakfast and service levels should reflect the category of the hotel. I enjoyed the Holiday Inn on my stay and agree the rooms are nicer than the Doubletree, as I had said in an earlier post. I am glad you found the photos I posted helpful. I hope your stay is lovely and that you experience no ineptitude.
