Recently stayed at the next door St Regis and came over to this hotel (they are directly adjacent but not connected) just to check out the common areas, F&B, and vibe. Note if you’re staying at one you can charge back to your room at the other. I didn’t get to see any rooms.
I was told the Edition is about 40 keys larger than the St Regis (~180 vs ~140). I didn’t get detail about suite / regular room breakdown but judging by the exteriors I think there are fewer suites here than the St Regis.
Generally I am a raving fan of Edition - and don’t get me wrong, I liked this one too - but I think the St Regis pulls it off a little better than the Edition here. I say this because there was a little too much dark wood for my liking throughout the hotel, the common areas were not as large / airy / grand as the St Regis, and most importantly the beachfront pool area was very small vs the much larger one at the St Regis. This is a problem because there’s not much breeze at the large pool by the main building and it is therefore very hot.
All that said the service and F&B was great everywhere we went and I particularly liked the vibe in the lobby bar. This is a place where the dark wood look really works.
I would say the Edition probably caters more to adults while the St Regis is equally at home catering to both families and adults-only travelers.
You can connect between the two hotels via golf cart (very quick ride) or a five min walk along the beach.
My entirely non-scientific assessment is that the standard room rates here are a little lower relative to the St Regis while the opposite is true for suites (as noted above I suspect there are more suites at the St Regis).
Hopefully I’ll be back sometime soon to stay at the Edition.
