Boots (other chemists are available) sell a 75ml size spray sunscreen at factor 50 which can easily be refilled from the larger versions of the same product. I don't think I've ever run out sharing between two people over approaching a fortnight.
In the US, if shopping for some at destination, Walgreens sell a similar-sized and "rated" tube marketed as a sports suncream, although this isn't a spray.
Whether or not this overcomes the OP's "reasons" is still to be seen!
However, if you're only transiting in US and you don't have a car while there, shopping for reasonably priced sunscreen isn't always easy.
