I quite like the CE service as well. My first CE flight was was LHR-BRU about 15 years ago. This is similar length to AUS-DFW on AA, which I fly frequently. I was impressed that I was served a round of drinks, a nice main course salad, warm roll, dessert, and tea/coffee, all in the time AA can manage only a single drink and packet of snack mix. Since then, I think BA has more or less maintained those standards, with meals appropriate to the flight length, and good service. I have never had a bad crew.
The seat pitch in rows 2+ is ridiculous, but is sadly consistent with other carriers' intra-Europe J. Fortunately I'm almost always in row 1, but even there I can't ethically recline knowing how I'd crush the person behind me. At this point BA has probably zero incentive to fix this, but I still wish they would.
