I seem to recall that the scanner would reject your boarding pass if the computer decided you were too late to make your connection and force you to go to customer service instead of allowing you to run to your gate.
if your flight is departing T5, yes conformance is still active at set to -35 minutes before scheduled departure. you must scan your bp at connections no later in order to avoid being offloaded.
