From my many experiences with natural disasters, cable internet is the FIRST service which goes down in a natural disaster, sometimes LONG before power does. Similarly, cable internet doesn't come back for a long time, sometimes weeks or multiple months after power is restored. No generator will help you there.

As others have mentioned, different regions have different challenges. I was floored when I was at a client's office in Anchorage, Alaska and they had NO generators on-site, just some basic UPSs for their IT infrastructure. No small operation either, 500+ employees across multiple states. When they had the 7.4 earthquake, they lost power for less than 1 minute. At my company's HQ in Florida, we have 24+ hours of UPS power, along with generators and alternate sites in case the building gets wiped out. Similarly, we have no snow heaters on our antennas and dishes here.
