Beyond the strip of course there's a pretty substantial city with plenty of decent people.
Just back from Vegas so this thread was top of mind; your comments sum it up entirely for me. The strip lost its allure for us several trips ago: even when the escalators are working, it’s a schlep to get anywhere (starting with the walk from your room to the street) and everything at the strip hotels carries a steep price tag.
Off-strip restaurants while not dirt-cheap are in line with any major metro area. We had great meals at Esther’s Kitchen, Marigold, Ping Pang Pong, Lotus of Siam, and eat. for similar or less than home (Seattle) prices. Even my regular Starbucks order was $0.40 cheaper, though I’m sure it would have been double the price at a hotel. And there’s good beer in the Arts District. 👍
To me, it always feels like there’s something new to discover - this time it was a great little bakery in Chinatown and a morning run in Wetlands Park.
