I sympathize with this. The ability to same-day-confirm and still all but guarantee an aisle or window is priceless, and it’s the one thing I love most about Southwest status. In an ideal world, I would like to see them adopt assigned seating while keeping a small section blocked off until the final minutes before departure, to be assigned by the gate agents, who could then accommodate any stray A-Listers.
