Personal experience at the Schiphol VIP center some time ago in May 2024. Access offered via an AF La Première award ticket booked from AMS.

I was traveling on flight AF1441 departing at 20:20. It was not clear at what time I could arrive at the VIP center, as the basic rate on their website if for 2 hours before departure, with an additional 215€ excl. VAT per hour (!) for the remaining time. I arrived at the lounge at 18:50 by foot via the Schiphol Plaza, after a nice day in Amsterdam.

I was guided to the green lounge (or whatever you call it). It looked really stunning! But I was a bit surprised not to be given any tour of the VIP center, as it was my first time there. Had to ask my way to the restrooms later on... Also, I was asked if I wanted to drink anything but there was no cocktail menu in the room. I had to go the bar but the menu itself looked very ordinary. I would have liked a menu with somehow signature suggestions.



Despite being there at a perfect time for dinner, and the report above that the menu includes a dinner option, I was handed over the breakfast/lunch menu...



I went for the Shakshuka. The plate itself looks very nice, but I would not consider the food very premium nor even good.



After that, I was asked if I needed anything else. I asked if there were any options for dessert, and only at that time I was given the dinner menu which includes the desserts. Shortly after that, a KLM staff member came by to tell me we'll be going to the aircraft in 5 to 10 minutes. There were clearly no effort made by the staff of the VIP center to accommodate my request for a dessert in this short time. On the contrary, it looked like they played for time to avoid any painful rush in the kitchen.

10 minutes later, the KLM staff came back and we went back to ground floor for security screening then a short ride in a comfortable Audi to the Hop E170 operating the flight to CDG that evening.

Overall, I was clearly not impressed at all by the VIP center. It offers a very exclusive and efficient way to board the aircraft, and is an incredible deal if you want to avoid Schiphol. If you are rather the kind of guy who like to enjoy your time in a lounge as I am, nothing beats the LPL in CDG! But perhaps I am too French to really enjoy this VIP center.
