It's had to say it was the answer for sure, but it was nice for ambiance too honestly, just takes up some weight and space in the luggage. My wife and son tend to attract bugs, and they got maybe one or two bites, it was not as bad as we feared, we also made sure to use the bug repellant that was in the room, we asked for more bug repellant and sunscreen on day one to make sure we had plenty for the time we were there.

Did the same as I do before heading out on a trip to the Ziva Cap Cana (which we've been to four times so far), go to the bank and get a about $80/day in ones, fives and tens, ones for drinks, fives for snacks/small meals and other miscellaneous stuff, and tens for big meals. I'm really not sure it was necessary here, and as I said, even from servers we saw every day it didn't improve service over time.
BTW... How did you get there flight wise?
We flew ORD-DOH-MLE on Qatar in business class, I had been keeping an eye on it and we got 2 adults + 2 kids (11 and under is a little cheaper) for $13,240 in R-class (not the no lounge access P-class) through AMEX International Airline Program. We spent two days in Qatar on the way back just to see a little of the City.
