Only way to know for sure is to get the receipt and it will tell you what class it booked in. If it books into a class where you don't get enough miles, you can refund it within 24 hours without penalty.
Booked the flights on American Airlines site. The PE flights show up as P in the emailed receipt. So far so good, then.
