But honestly, having now done it, I understand all the comments here about skipping the overnight and doing it as a day trip. I wish we did that. Once the sun goes down, you're wondering why you're still here and why you're sleeping on this boat instead of back at the Metropole. Wifi is not great, if this matters to you. Probably a factor of there not being cell coverage at many points, so there's nothing for the wifi router to distribute.
We skipped the visit to the village, as we got the sense it was touristy and not worth it. Kayaking in the am was fun, but not a reason to force an overnight.

It was AMAZING. The service was impeccable. The boat was gorgeous! The food... omg the food was stellar - and we're very picky foodies. I promise it was Michelin star level. We chose this particular one because it was in less crowded Lan Ha bay, but also we were nervous about being on a cruise. We hate being still. And the activities and guides we had were fabulous - we rode, bikes, hiked in the jungle, explored caves, swam in the ocean, kayaked, did tai chi, had singing bowl meditations before bed - and more. Also, the boat had a spa and sauna on board, and the treatments were excellent.
I can't recommend the Heritage Line Ylang cruise more. Seriously, maybe the best part of our Vietnam/Cambodia adventure.
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but am planning a Christmas/ new years vietnam trip and was looking at halong bay. Would you say the weather was fine for this, even some swimming? I normally sweat easily and am in shorts as soon as we pass 70F . Thanks in advance, and looking forward to jade sails more likely for a day trip.
